If you are not finding the results that you are looking for, here are some helpful searching hints that may allow your search to be more successful:
Why am I not getting any results?
Did you click the search button?
The search will not take place by simply pressing the Enter button; you must
click the Search button to get results.
Why am I only getting a few results?
Try using the drop down Category list to find a word or term that fits what
you are looking for.
Why am I getting so many results?
Is your search too broad?
Try narrowing your search. For example, if you are looking for Assistive
Technology using the category drop down menu, you may get 64 results however;
if you type in hearing aid into the keyword space you will only find four
results.
Why am I not finding what I am looking for?
Did you search by keyword?
Try typing in what you are looking for in the keyword box. For example,
if you are looking for a ramp type Ramp in the keyword box instead of looking
under Home Modification or Accessibility. This will take you directly
to all programs that have the word ramp in their description.
Why am I getting results that are not in the county I am looking for?
Many services serve all 55 counties in West Virginia. Therefore,
they will come up in every county that is searched.
Why am I getting results that are not in West Virginia?
Many resources are in other states but serve West Virginia. For example,
most assistive technology vendors are not located in West Virginia but many
people still need to know how to contact them.
Why are there national websites in this directory?
Many national websites are very informative about many of the services provided
to persons with disabilities and have up to date research that is very helpful.
Why did I lose my search results after clicking on a program description?
If after clicking on a program description you do not go back to your
original search results you may have to change your Internet options on your
computer because your computers temporary memory may be full. To do this:
1. Click on Tools at the top of your screen.
2. Scroll down and click on Internet Options.
3. In the pop up box, click Delete Cookies and click on OK - this
will delete all temporary files taking up space on your computer. No
information that you have saved will be erased.
4. Next, click on Delete Files and click on OK- this will delete more
temporary files taking up space on your computer.
